George Robert Hollis (Bob) of Charlotte passed away on August 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 8, 1938, to the late George Henry and Naomi Wotring Hollis. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bob's loves were his family, traveling, woodworking, trains, reading, and mission projects.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judith Rhodes Hollis, children Carol (Dale) Thornton, James Robert Hollis, Margery (Charley) Warner and Elizabeth (Ken) Griffin. Bob was the proud grandfather of Will and Ashley...

George Robert Hollis (Bob) of Charlotte passed away on August 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 8, 1938, to the late George Henry and Naomi Wotring Hollis. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bob's loves were his family, traveling, woodworking, trains, reading, and mission projects.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judith Rhodes Hollis, children Carol (Dale) Thornton, James Robert Hollis, Margery (Charley) Warner and Elizabeth (Ken) Griffin. Bob was the proud grandfather of Will and Ashley Droze, Riley and Lauren Hollis, Ben, Molly and Gavin Warner, and Heather, Holli and Melanie Griffin. Bob is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Dale) Crews, sister-in-law, Janet Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Bob attended North Carolina State University and Gaston Technical Institute and proudly served in the U.S. Army Security Agency prior to his nearly 40-year career in telecommunications engineering with Bell Labs, Southern Bell, Bell South, Lucent Technologies and AT&T. Bob was a long-time active member of Sharon United Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 am with a reception immediately following at Sharon United Methodist Church, 4411 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28211. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to:
