Obituary

Mary Magdalene Chew (Curry) was born in Cambridge, Mass in 1922 and left this life on September 8. She was of Irish and Spanish descent, and those that knew her recognized both. Mary Magdalene Chew (Curry) was born in Cambridge, Mass in 1922 and left this life on September 8. She was of Irish and Spanish descent, and those that knew her recognized both. She was the oldest daughter in a family of 3 boys and 3 girls, all long gone. As a young woman she was an avid photographer who often developed pictures in her home darkroom. Her father's family were musicians and she particularly enjoyed the piano and violin. She loved Nat King Cole and Judy Garland and had an affinity for elephants because she said they looked so sad.

She married Robert "Bob" Chew, a World War II veteran. She was a wonderful mother to their two children, Judy Walsh and Bob Chew, both of Charlotte. She loved her three grandchildren, Patrick Walsh of Charlotte and Harry and Katy Chew of St. Neots, England and although she never got to meet her new great-grandchild Charley, she lived a very full life with family and friends.

McEwen Funeral Service of Pineville is assisting the family locally, with memorial services to be held in the Boston area. The family would very much appreciate that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Carmel Hills Care Center, 2801 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.

Love you mom.
