Robert Patrick Meserve passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2017 after a very courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Marie Meserve; his brother, Herbert Meserve and wife Judy Meserve; his sister, Patricia Gildersleeve; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Forman and husband William Forman; his sister-in-law Vera Godwin and husband Wayne Godwin; nieces Shannon Jackson, Jessica Ward, Trisha Cruise, Christa Zaros, Jennifer Pepper, and Melissa Godwin; nephews William Forman, Matthew Forman and Anthony Varuolo. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Meserve and his father Herbert L. Meserve.

Mr. Meserve was a teacher in Bethpage Public Schools on Long Island, New York for 10 years, and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for 25 years. His proudest achievement was to be named three times for teaching excellence by the prestigious "Who's Who Among America's Teachers". After his retirement from teaching he became a valued member of the Board of the Bonnie Briar Homeowner's Association in his community serving several times as President. His greatest joy was to travel on cruise vacations. Rob and his wife Marie loved everything about being at sea: the refreshing ocean air, great meals, meeting new people, and visiting new places. However, they particularly loved cruising to New England and Canada. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care given by oncologist, Dr. Alfred Newman; Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care; and home health care nurses Sheree Newsome, Blondie McKoy, Sondra Hayes and Rodicia Mitchell. They are all angels on earth.

McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC is serving the family. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 6:00 - 9:00pm.
